Spread hope...
...and create feelings of positivity and awakening with this beautiful mask. To Vincent Van Gogh the almond blossom represented these things and are said to have brought him great joy.
About Almond Blossoms
In the early months of 1890 Van Gogh wrote a letter to his mother expressing the happiness he had felt when his brother had announced to him the birth of a new son. In that very letter, when Van Gogh says of his newborn nephew:
"I started right away to make a picture for him, to hang in their bedroom, big branches of white almond blossom against a blue sky."
He was in fact writing about this very painting, and it's clear to see why Van Gogh had chosen this particular subject matter and color scheme as a celebration for the new addition to his brother's family.
The painting now hangs in the Van Gogh Museum of Amsterdam.
